Is a vertical or horizontal baler right for your company?

A baler is a piece of recycling equipment that can be very beneficial for all types of businesses. Balers compress recycled materials, most commonly cardboard and plastic, so they can be tied together with baling wire to form a compact bale. Recycling companies can buy materials in bales, which helps improve the overall environment instead of dumping loose materials in landfills. Balers are used by businesses that generate enough recyclables to justify purchasing the equipment. They are also a good option for theos type businesses with smaller spaces as they reduce the need for additional litter boxes.

Is a vertical or horizontal baler right for your company?

Balers come in a variety of sizes and shapes depending on the type of material that needs to be baled, the amount of material that needs to be baled, and the location and size of the business property. Balers are divided into two categories: vertical and horizontal. Vertical balers use vertical (downward) force to compress. Material is placed inside the machine, then the baler's piston (located on top of the machine) will move down to the ground and compress the material. Vertical balers tend to take up less space, cost less, and are suitable for a variety of materials. They are much taller than horizontal balers and may not be the best choice for less elastic materials.

Horizontal balers are stronger and work slightly differently. Materials can be loaded into the baler by manual, pneumatic systems, conveyors, hydraulic dump trucks and various other equipment. Once these materials are placed in the hopper and the hopper is full, the plunger compresses the material from one side of the machine to the other (moving with horizontal force). These bales are usually tied with baling wire and ejected from the baler. The baler can be an automatic baler or a manual baler. Automatic balers cost more, but if enough bales are formed, they provide great value in the long run. Horizontal balers are great for companies that produce a lot of bales; they create bales that are more consistent in size and weight; they can be used with other equipment, such as paper shredders; they can compress a wider variety of recyclable materials (from glass to fiberboard to aluminum cans to newspapers and more).
